Acebutolol is used to treat irregular heartbeat and excessive blood pressure (arrhythmia). Bringing down high blood pressure reduces the risk of heart attacks, kidney issues, and strokes. The heart works more efficiently and less forcefully when an irregular heartbeat is treated. Heartbeat irregularities can be dangerous and occasionally even trigger a heart attack. This medication is a member of the beta blocker pharmacological class.
